#Name:
There is no agreement on the origin of the name. However, most references trace the name back to the ancient Persian language “Pahlavi-Medic”:
– Atari-Bata: meaning “protected by the sacred fire”
– Adurbadagan: meaning “keeper of fire”
There are those who trace the name back to a Macedonian commander who accompanied Alexander the Great in his conquests called “Atropites” after whom it was named!!!

Azerbaijan is the home of the “Persian Zoroastrian religion” and therefore occupies a great place in ancient and modern Persian culture and history. Its founder “Zoroaster” lived in the period from
{650 BC ~ 500 BC}.
